Tectona grandis (South East Asia)

 

A valuable timber held in high regard for its qualities of strength, stability and durability in extreme conditions and great natural beauty, Teak is a distinctly oily wood, mid to dark brown with attractive darker grain marking. It is used in the best quality cabinet making, internal and external joinery and in boat building for structural elements, fitments and trims. Teak also turns well and can be carved.
